What your AI bills by usage

Know before the bill what is billed by usage in your company: which features, since when, and the cap setting your vendor already offers.

The question

“AI is billed by usage, and we discover the bill afterwards.” Vendors add consumption-billed capabilities to their licenses, in credits or per action. Some turn on by default on new licenses. The bill arrives the following month, without anyone having decided it.

A dated example

Microsoft announced that new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licenses bought through a partner will include usage-based billing of Copilot Credits by default, with a preset cap of 4,000 credits per user per month, which the administrator can adjust. The launch, postponed to December 1, 2026, excludes France at first.

With Ojja Watch

  1. For each feature, its billing mode: included in the license, by usage, in credits.
  2. Consumption, read when the vendor exposes it.
  3. An alert when usage billing turns on. The Connections page of your workspace says, tool by tool, whether this state is read every day or every week.
  4. Prepaid credits and their consumption.
  5. The cap setting, when the vendor offers one: the fact sheet flags it, your administrator applies it.

The proof

The free readout, then the full list: how many of your features are billed by usage, and whether a spending limit is set, when the vendor lets it be read.

What Ojja does not do

Ojja caps nothing and changes no setting. It reads and it flags; your administrator applies.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI features are billed by usage?
Those the vendor sells in credits, per action or per consumption, often on top of a license. Each feature's fact sheet gives its billing mode, with its source and its date.
Can spending be capped?
When the vendor offers a limit setting, it is set in its admin console. Ojja flags that it exists, and its state when it can be read; it does not set it.
How do you know before the bill?
By reading each feature's billing mode and the consumption when the vendor exposes it, then receiving an alert when a feature switches to usage billing.
