How much time must an agent save you?

An agent's ROI cannot be read in any tool. What can be calculated is the time it must save per successful task to be worth its price, against the time that task takes in your company today.

The question

“The vendor promises its agent saves hours. Is that true in our company?” Each vendor publishes its figures. None measures them in your company.

The measure: the time it could save

  • What the agent costs, read or declared: license, credits, consumption.
  • The number of tasks it completes.
  • The time the task takes in your company today, entered and dated before deployment.
  • Result: “This agent must save n minutes per successful task to be worth its price.”

Examples, illustrative figures, for an hourly cost of €40: an agent that costs €800 per month and completes 1,200 tasks must save one minute per successful task. For a licensed tool: “Copilot costs you €52 per month for each person who uses it. Each of them must save about 1 h 20 per month for it to be worth its price.”

Four answers, never a percentage

  • Worth its price, even in the cautious case.
  • Worth its price if usage follows.
  • Not worth its price, even in the favorable case.
  • Too early to tell: usage not read or time not entered.

Benchmarks, always marked as such

“Measured elsewhere”: a published range, sourced, dated. “Announced by the vendor”: its figure, with its source. Never mixed with what is read in your company.

What Ojja does not do

Ojja does not calculate an ROI and does not measure the performance of a team or a person. It reads usage and cost, and applies a public method.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate an AI agent's ROI?
Start with the time it must save per successful task to cover its cost, then compare it with the time the task takes today. If the gap is comfortable even in the cautious case, the agent is worth its price.
