What the connection does

  • What it does. A connection between Slack and Salesforce has to be set up for the Slack features that work with Salesforce, such as Slackbot, Salesforce channels or Agentforce (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • The direction. In both directions.
  • The mode. Through an integration offered by the vendor.

What it takes to turn it on

  • The editions or licenses required. Two statements from the vendor, below.
  • What it costs on top, or how it is billed. Advanced AI and Salesforce features are included in the new version of the Business+ plan and in the new Enterprise+ plan (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • Who turns it on. The request to connect is made in Slack; a Salesforce System Admin can then approve it in Salesforce; owners and people with the Salesforce Admin system role in Slack can activate the pending connection (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • The prerequisites. Slack cannot be connected to Salesforce Government Cloud organizations; features that rely on the connection may not work as expected when Salesforce IP restrictions are turned on (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).

The data that flows

  • What passes. Slackbot can find information in the Salesforce organizations connected to the workspace or the Enterprise organization; by default, it can create or update records (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • Whether the source tool's permissions are respected. Two statements from the vendor, below.
  • Where the data is processed. If data residency is not used, Slack data is stored in the US (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • Training. AI features may use generative AI; generative AI models are not trained on customer data (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).
  • Retention. Data hosted in Slack follows the retention settings chosen in Slack; data hosted in Salesforce follows Salesforce's retention policies, including structured Salesforce data displayed in Slack (according to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026).

Two statements from the vendor

  • The editions or licenses required. According to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026: “Salesforce channels are available to customers on all Slack plans with a Salesforce standard edition or above. To access additional Salesforce features (workflow automations, Salesforce list views, and Sales Home), customers can switch to the new version of Business+ or upgrade to the Enterprise+ plan.”
  • The editions or licenses required. According to Salesforce's documentation, read on 10/17/2026: “Slackbot is currently limited to customers on Business+ and Enterprise+ plans.”
  • Whether the source tool's permissions are respected. According to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026: “Salesforce channels inherit permissions set in Salesforce. People can only view and edit data in Slack that they’re allowed to access in Salesforce.”
  • Whether the source tool's permissions are respected. According to Slack's documentation, read on 10/17/2026: “Record previews are visible to all members of the conversation they appear in, regardless of member permissions in Salesforce.”

With Ojja

Ojja tells you whether you already pay for both tools, whether the connection is turned on in your company, who uses it, and the usage before and after: it is the “Connect” lever of what your tools can already do.

What Ojja never does

  • Ojja does not advise you to choose a vendor: it records what each one documents.
  • Ojja does not say whether a use is permitted: it gives the facts, and the points to review with your counsel.

Ojja does not provide legal advice: it records and documents; how the law applies to your situation is for your counsel to determine.
